Factory Girl celebrates the season of giving with a one-year anniversary party December 1st from 7-10pm at their NEW location, 2923 Canton Street in Deep Ellum. DJ Woodtronic will lend a festive air to the event, spinning a soundtrack of holiday classics and underground hits.
Factory Girl owners Scogin and Heather Mayo will exhibit "Horse Masks," a body of mixed-media paintings, watercolors and prints created by artist Lizzy Wetzel. According to the artist, "Horse Masks were originally inspired by the ornate handcraft of Plains Indians horse masks, evolved into minimal geometric forms and personal symbology."
Having shown throughout Texas at galleries such as Art Palace, FotoFest and Plush, Wetzel's paintings pull strong influences from textile crafts and the invented ritual of Magick. All work is framed and available for purchase.
SNAKEOIL, the artists line of medicine bags and hand-felted wool creations, including holiday ornaments, ponchos and scarves, will also be available for purchase, just in time for the holiday season. Additionally, the boutique will also premiere a collaborative capsule line of one-of-a kind indigo shibori dyed silk separates designed by Factory Girl and intricately hand-stitched, bound and dyed by Wetzel.
Rounding out the evening, bespoke shoe designer Rocio Ildemaro will present her custom collection of luxurious flats and heels, hand-selected by Factory Girl. A native of Venezuela, Rocio creates shoes with the finest materials sourced from Veneto, Italy, combining unique design with ultimate comfort.
The event will also have a charitable focus, as patrons who bring a new or gently used coat to be donated to the Austin Street Shelter will receive a 20% discount and gift with their Factory Girl purchase. All attendees will receive complimentary cocktails and valet parking.
