It's a bit short notice but Texas' Next Top Designer is accepting applications for the 2012 competition until next Friday, May 25th. Aspiring designers in the Dallas-Fort Worth area should take a quick look at their Guidelines Page to see if it's something they want to do.
The "Search for Texas' Next Top Designer" began in 2007, bringing together emerging fashion and accessories designers around Texas to compete by demonstrating their talent, showcasing their creations and proving their business savvy. Board members, along with a panel of experts, media, retailers and industry professionals evaluate the designers in four categories including womenswear, menswear, accessories and handbags.The Texas' Next Top Designer award includes a financial reimbursement grant and in-kind support for business development. Assistance may include subsidized work and showroom space, collateral production, advertising, financial planning, targeted fast-track business assistance, and networking with Texas based industry leaders.
Since its inception, hundreds of designers from all over the state have applied, but only three have taken the annual prize: Abi Ferrin, Jeannie Vianney and Megan Summerville. Most notable, of course, is Abi Ferrin who has gone on to show in New York and gained national praise. You could be next!
